- The "jogo-style" house was a popular style of architecture from the end of the Edo period, seen in much of Saga prefecture's southeast such as Kawasoe town, and Fukuoka's southwest. Yamaguchi Family Residence is a typical example of this style.
Jogo-style involves an extremely rare system in which the center of a roof is shaped like a funnel in order to collect rainwater, which then flows into a large pipe passing over the doma and is drained off outside. The roofs are built strong from the reeds which grow naturally in the creeks of the area.
